Ultrasound scanning protocol for false aneurysm

Suspected false aneurysm following angiography procedure

Assess:

  • The area of swelling for presence of haematoma mass and/or false aneurysm at the puncture site
  • CFA above and below puncture site
Standard documentation:
  • Colour images and Pulse wave spectral trace of the CFA above and below the puncture site
  • Longitudinal and transverse images of the puncture site/area of swelling
  • Measure size of haematoma/false aneurysm if present
  • Colour images of the puncture site/area of swelling, in particular to document the caliber and length of the neck of the false aneurysm if present
  • Pulse wave spectral traxe of the false aneurysm if present
  • Dynamic clip stores as required
