Positioning
  • Patient in a lateral recumbent position on the unaffected side
  • Partially extend the limb being examined and put support under knee and foot
  • Adjust height of support under knee to place the foot in the lateral position with the first metatarsophalangeal joint perpendicular to the horizontal
  • Place IR under metatarsal region
  • CR directed to the prominence of the first metatarsophalangeal joint at an angle of 40° towards the heel
