Ultrasound protocols for liver biopsy
- The purpose of this scan is to mark a site for liver biopsy
- The patient must be supine on aa flat bed and must not move after scan
- Site marking must occur with the doctor who is oerfroming the procedure present
- The preferred site is in the coronal plane, laterally in an intercostal space
- The physician will direct the patients respiration and instruct tbe sonographer as to their preferred site
- Liver at the biopsy site demonstrating adequate depth for biopsy
- Liver surface in the left lobe
- Image of liver at the biopsy site
- Depth to liver capsule
