  • Patient erect with back against upright bucky
  • Rotate body towards the affected side as needed to bring shoulder and humerus in contact with IR
  • Extend hand and forearm
  • Align humerus to long axis of IR or diagonally across IR for patients with longer limbs
  • Abduct arm and supinate hand so that so that epicondyles of elbow are equidistant
May be performed supine on the X-ray table
