PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System)

A Picture Archive and Communications System (PACS) is comprised of hardware and software that enables digital communication, archiving, processing and viewing of images and image-related information.
It plays a key role in provision of clinical information in the form of images and reports to informed decision-making and provision of care.PACS is a system that acquires, transmits, stores, retrieves, and displays digital images and related patient information from a variety of imaging sources and communicates the information over a network.

RIS


A Radiology Information System (RIS) is used by radiology departments to store, manipulate and distribute patient radiological data and imagery. The system generally comprises of patient tracking and scheduling, result reporting and image tracking capabilities.
