Ultrasound Normal Measurements - Gynaecology

Ovary

Ovarian Volume: Prepubertal

  • neonatal- 3 months: ≤ 4cc
  • 3 months- 5 years ≤ 2 cc
  • 5 years – menarche: gradual increase to 8cc
  • Max. Ovarian Volume: Post-pubertal normal ≤ 20cc
Max Follicle Size

  • normal < 3 cm (mean diameter)

Uterus Size

  • Prepubertal 1-12years Length 2 – 3.3 cm
  • Post pubertal 12-20 years Length 5 - 8cm

Uterine Endometrial Thickness

  • Premenopausal
    • 4-8 mm - proliferative phase
    • 7-13 mm - secretory phas
  • Post menopausal
    • normal ≤ 5mm (some may be up to 8mm on some HRT regimes)
