Appendix

Assess:
  • Appendix lumen
  • Appendix diameter
  • Appendix compressibility
  • Presence of free fluid ( peri-appendiceal / pelvic)
  • Point of maximal tenderness
  • Other causes of RIF pain (gynae / gall bladder / renal / pericolic collection)

Standard documentation:
  • Longitudinal appendix
  • Transverse appendix with diameter measurement with and without graded compression
  • Pelvis sagittal midline for free fluid
  • Non compressible appendix include clip store of compression
